For the past 39 years I have enjoyed helping others as a profession. From serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam Era, to working as a police officer, to finalizing my career as a fire captain in the North Dallas area. I have always enjoyed helping others. Now that I’m “retired” I want to continue helping others by showing them how they too can do so much more for their families with their hard earned money.

Like many of you, I’m just a normal guy trying to do the best I can for my family. Now that I built my own home I guess I missed my calling; it was so easy maybe I should have been a custom home builder. After 28 years on the fire department I was ready to retire to my dream area of Texas, the Texas Hill Country. My wife Andrea and I found the perfect plans for our new house and took them to several builders. The price they quoted us was way too high for our budget so I started to investigate building it myself. Several of my fireman buddies had done it and I figured, if they can do it so can I. It was the best decision we could have made. Not only did we save over $30,000 in construction costs, we were also able to get all of the upgrades we ever dreamed of; granite countertops, custom built cabinets throughout, wood flooring, etc.

During the last six months of my fire department career I drove from the North Dallas area to New Braunfels several times a month to build our home. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the area, that’s a 500 mile round trip. Was it tough, you bet; but in the end we got the “custom” home that we wanted in the area that we wanted.

The goal of this web site is to show you that it may not be the easiest thing to build your own home, but it is darn sure worth the effort. I did it with no construction experience at all and so can you. It is amazing how many other people there are out there that are willing to help you at every turn of construction. It just takes a little confidence in yourself and an ability to talk to other regular Joes, sub-contractors.

So if you’re ready to take the next step in building your dream home, shoot me an e-mail. I can help you get started.
